We have continued in business 100 years primarily on the strength of the quality bands we sell. When you buy Dykema Rubber Bands you are buying 90% PURE rubber products. Most bands sold in America are lessor quality products containing only 80% and often far less rubber content.

What's the difference?

"FILLERS" used to dilute rubber content include carbon black and silicon based compounds; in layman's terms "ash" and "dirt." Don't be an uninformed buyer who focuses only on cost per pound. Since rubber weighs less than filler, piece counts vary directly to the proportion of their rubber content. Instead, base your purchases on COST PER ITEM not COST PER POUND. In most cases our piece count average 10-25% above our competitors. You may pay a little more for our product, but on a unit basis you will likely save money.

Example of Product Count Differences and Effect on Your Unit Costs

As an example take our Size 75A band (7 1/2" x 1/4" x 1/16"). Our average count per pound on this item is 120 pieces per pound. If a competitor's count is only 100 pieces/lb. then your per item cost is 20% more on a unit basis (120/100 = 1.20%). You would have to buy and transport 120 pounds of their product to get the same number of bands we provide in 100 pounds. Worse yet you are receiving an inferior product diluted with ash and dirt.

Other Advantages of Pure Rubber Bands

PURE rubber bands have other advantages. They have increased tensile (stretch) strength, longer durability, and better appearance. They will break less often avoiding employee injury, production inefficiencies and possible product waste. Since they stretch farther, you may even need a smaller band further increasing your savings.

How band color reveals its quality

Unless your band is crepe (or cream-colored) it's likely an inferior product. Rubber Bands with grey or brown tint are especially low in quality and poor in counts per pound.
