High quality rubber bands weigh less than low quality bands and also stretch more than low quality bands. This is due to the purity content of the rubber used to make the band. Higher rubber content, (high quality rubber bands) weigh less than low quality rubber bands. Therefore, high quality rubber bands are cost effective because you receive more bands per pound, AND receive a rubber band that his higher quality.

Rubber bands have a limited shelf life. Exposure to heat, air, sun light and other elements can contribute to rubber bands becoming brittle or weak. To extend life, rubber bands should be packaged in air-tight containers and kept in cool, dark storage.
